    Random Images as a Background?

    Meowscat Level 1
Hi. Here I am proud of myself that I figured out how to use an extension and that I made it work. I go the Advanced Random Images created at kaosweaver.com and absolutely love it. However, the way I made this page I need the image to be a background image because I want it to scale and keep the bottom part centered. Does anyone know how I can get random images to load as a background?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

          Sure.

          1) Go to hotscripts.com and find a random text script.

          2) Put css for the body in a stylesheet by itself and assign a
          background image.

          3) "Save As" with new name, repeat until you are out of backgrounds.

          4) Call these randomly (in the head, of course).

Hi. Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to do the CSS Stuff. Bleh.

I did visit that web site. The best I found is the following option. Is this the easiest one? I will have to check on the cgi server stuff. There is no directory for that so I just created one, which leads me to believe that cgi may not be working?

I'm even willing to approach the page design differently to get the random image thing working because it will end up being important.

Sure. Open DW, modify CSS for that page only, apply a background, move
the generated code to a new file and name it with a .css extension.
Then save as a new file, changing the background image.

If you get stuck, press F1, use Google or search this group and you
should be okay in 10 minutes or less.

I have no idea if it's the easiest one, but it may require setting
permissions (chmod) on the server. Personally, I use PHP.

Some servers like a .pl extension while others are configured for the
.cgi extension. I would upload the same file with each extension so
              you can invoke either easily.

                Background images don't scale.

First off, thanks for the kind words - second, I wrote an article for
Community MX which does exactly what you're asking (although, like
Murray said, background images won't scale)

They can with Javascript, but it's not pretty.

In other words, they don't scale. 8)

Sure they do, just make sure you keep a 4:3 aspect ratio. :)
