From the error code it seems the problem is with the row, not the file.
Maybe you could post the entire code, as well as the input file you use?
The entire code and sample is in my attachement in the orginal post.
Note: When prompted for file and row it works, so I don't think my data is the problem. It is with the path somehow.
Sorry, I couldn't see the attachment before.
You should have mentioned before that it was a LiveCycle form.
Don't know what you tell you, except to try placing the file in another location, since Acrobat doesn't like certain "un-safe" locations, and C:\temp might be one of them.
Also, are you running this on a Mac? If so, I'm not sure the syntax of your path is correct.
I have tried various locations and none of them work directly but they all worked when browsing to them.
No I am not doing this on a Mac, I just happen to be home when I was building the zip file.
The issue should have nothing to do with LiveCycle, LiveCycle is just the tool being used to build the form. The form runs from Acrobat Pro 9.
My example was not very good. I replaced it with a new (see attached).
Previously I found my problem to be the header row in the text file was not formatted properly. ie. rather than have "task" as the column header it had to be frmProgressCard.frmTasks.tblTasks.rowTask.task
That does not work any longer.
I save all the work in LiveCycle as Adobe Dynamic XML Form and then open it in Acrobat Pro to test, but still will not load my data. Returns with "invalid row" error.
So I think the problem is that first row that is suppose to link up with the text fields in the form, but I can't seem to find the proper format.
The help file only says to put in the field names, ie. "task", but that does not work.
ImportTextFile.zip 75.8 K
You can post your problem in the forum for LiveCycle Designer.
Just tested this under Acorobat Pro 8 and it worked fine.
What is different in 9 that causes it not to work?
I have a problem. I am new in pdf
You should create a new discussion for this, it has nothing to do with importTextData so no one will see it...
You could try something like this in your "onchange" event of the drop down.
var sSelectedItem = xfa.event.newText; // get the item from the drop down
