What is the codec inside your AVI and what sequence settings do you use? Use GSpot to figure that out.
Harm, THANK YOU for responding. sequence=24pfs, 1440h 720v 1.0000, square pixels 1.0, no fields, progressive scan, 48000 sample, 3 video tracks, stero, 5.1 tracks, i do not know how to check my codec. i hate to say this.... dont know what a gspot is.... I reinstalled Pro only and the video problem went away. then i did the update and it is back. THANK YOU again! btw-is there someone i could call or a service i could work with to get all this resolved that you know of? Adobe tech support is the worse and has no answers. : )
Barry, what video card are you on??
Harm, I'm starting to see a pattern emerging....
I red the article and it seems this could work
i have a mobile intel 4 series express chipset family. is this what you were looking for? when i tried to update it, it said it was up to date. thoughts?
btw-thanks you guys. i wish i woudl have found you 12 hours of frustration ago. : ) i LOVE these boards!!!
Look here: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ for GSpot. Post the screenshot of the results. Where did you get this video? The format is weird for video, which would normally be something like 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 with square pixels, not 1440 x 720.
What display adapter does device manager show?
BNH, don't rely on Windows telling you the driver is up to date, go to the machine manufacturers website and check there.
Would you humour me for one moment? If you have more than one track in your sequence (video 1, video 2), can you delete the others and leave just one (obviously use a copy if you have stuff on Video 2!!) and let me know if that makes any difference?
When you un-installed did you run the CS4 Clean Script ?
If not run it a few times with re-boots after each time.
Then re-install Production Premium
See if this works:
Harm, Matt, and others,
Thanks for hanging in there with me. Display adapters-HP RC MIrror Drover and Mobile Intel 4 series express chipset family.
Still have problem with just one video or just one slide.
When i did the update they had me go into the task manager and turn off "Processes" as it asked for them. is this okay?
Keep in mind that before the update, all works well. feels like the update is not going well. when it was just Pro, all was fine. i will do the uninstall, really unistall everything, run the cs4 clean script numerous times and advise.
Thanks and below are the results of GSpot. Lots of Red fields. probably not good. Suggestions or thoughts?
Don't worry about the red MainConcept lines. That is a false message, caused by the way Adobe registers these codecs.
I'm not familiar with the HP Mirror Drover or the Intel series 4 chipset, but the fact that no ATI or nVidia shows up, leads me to believe it is an integrated Intel video card. If that is true, sorry, you may be f**ked, because Intel video chips do not operate nicely with Adobe. Maybe a new driver will solve that, but you have to check both the HP site and the Intel site for the latest version. Often Intel will direct you to the HP site for custom drivers and HP may not be in a hurry to publish new drivers. HP is renowned for their bloated and mediocre drivers anyway, but this looks like your best chance now. It all looks like a video driver problem with the overlay function.
A wild guess, and it really is nothing more than grasping at straws, did you check that your Microsoft C++ library is completely up to date?
PS. Do you only have this problem with ONE clip or still? Could this one be corrupted and our looking for a solution futile?
Harm, Matt, Glenn,
Gentleman, I appreciate you comments. Here is the update. I do think that i might be screwed... or as Harm put it... f**ked...hahahah
I uninstalled the Adobe software. got on the phone with HP, updated drivers and bios. did the uninstall routien three times with reboots in between.
reinstalled and it worked until i did the update. problem is back : ) interesting thing is that it works with the 4.0 version of Pro BEFORE the update. once the update occurs, the pink comes back on all files video and slides.
Harm, not sure how to do the Microsoft C++ library update.
Oh wise men, thoughts?
Thanks for helping. Based on the amount of hours spent so far, i woudl be better going and buying a new laptop to use just for this.... be about 20 hours ahead... thoughts?
There is/was a C++ RunTime Library distributable on the MS site. IIRC, it IS OS version-specific, so be careful and match your OS to the correct version.
maybe you could just get a new graphics card and not use the built in one.
I never changed one on a laptop before so im not sure.
could be cheaper then getting a new laptop.
Almost impossible to change an embedded graphics card in a laptop, as they're almost always soldered right on the board and routed straight to the LCD.
Like I think I said in an earlier post, I had one machine that simply had no solution. Perhaps a driver will come forth that fixes the issue, but you can't really sit around waiting for one, can you?
If you decide to go to another laptop, do look for one with an ATI or nVidia card for likely compatability. Check Adobe's list of known working cards.
If I had the choice, I'd always edit on a desktop machine, may that's something to consider.
BNH, is it possible you can just use PP 4.0 WITHOUT the update applied? You don't have to update all apps the automatic way, you can just go to the Adobe Update web page and download the updates you WANT to apply. Simply DON'T install the PP ones.
THANKS to everyone. It appears that this is one of those cases that there is no solution. I am going to go buy a new laptop
with an ATI or Nvidia card. Last question to all...
1. Any suggestions on a laptop that woudl work well....XP, Vista, or 7. Thoughts?
Thanks for your help. : )
I have been extremely happy with my Sager laptop. It's basically an extreme gaming laptop, that was customized for NLE work. They are not inexpensive, but mine has been very stout, and gets used is some lousy environments.
My criteria would be: 64bit with Windows 7 (so you're ready for CS5), as powerful as you can afford, with as big a screen as you can afford, and with a "known" ATI or nVidia graphics adapter that doesn't share RAM with the OS memory. I favour machines with a metal chasis that won't twist in your backpack, but that is a personal issue.
Also if you go windows 7 try to get the Pro model so you have the XP compatibility
Thanks to all.
Here's to a great 2010 to all of you!
