I have this same prob w/ a windows version of FH-MX.
I saw Judy's posts referencing this technote < http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_13188> but it doesno't bring back my Main Toolbar -- or regen or change anythg.
Its not critical to using FH, but if someone does thk of an answer to Bridie123's Q, I too would be interestd.
Thanks

DebElison Feb 27, 2010 1:23 PM (in response to bridie123)Got my answer... it worked!
just search for the file toolbar using spotlight.
make sure that freehand is closed, then trash that file. (app - freehand - english - settings - toolbar) delete it from the trash.
relaunch freehand and your toolbars will be there -

HarryHydrocarbon Jun 27, 2013 10:33 AM (in response to DebElison)Just loaded FreehandMX successfully on Wondows 8 as its still a far better programme than the others for what I use it...but as is clearly a problem, the Main Menu dissapears offscreen. Did all the toolbar preference file deletion in the users sudirectory recommended at http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_13188> but failed to resolve the problem.
In the end I resolved it by simply copying across the two old preference files from a back up on a PC which had not been subject to the menus offscreen problem and hey presto! Problem Solved. I now have these backed up for future use.
The two files concerned are the 'fhpref.txt' and 'tools.set' files in the Users Windows Macromedia/Freehand subdirectory.

Belief Sports Sep 18, 2013 6:33 AM (in response to HarryHydrocarbon)Could you please explain this a little more. When I launch freehand mx in Win 8 the toolbars are not present. Also when I change the swatch it burns a little swatch box on my desktop and will only disapear when I close freehand.
