I am using the XP operating system and firefox. Recently Adobe Acrobat stoped woring. I downloaded Adobe Reader 9.0 --- 10 times. I get to the screen that offers the option of run or cancel. If I choose run, nothing happens, i.e., the screen does not change, the arrow does not change into an hourglass. I called the tech support line and worked eith a low level tech support person who got no farther than I had gotten. She said that since the software is free, Adobe will not provide a higher level of support. Does anyone have an idea as to what is causing the hang-up?
Are you sure you don't want to download the latest version of Adobe Reader 9.3? Assuming that you want the English version, you can download it directly from this link http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.exe; it is best to save the installer to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.
If you want a different version, navigate your way to the desired installer on the Adobe FTP site ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/
