Span tag showing in live code but not source code

I've inserted an image into a table (right hand column if it makes any difference) but I've got what appears to be a white frame showing on the left hand side of the page.

When I view the page in design view, it's not there - it only appears in live view.

I've tracked it down to the following code:

      <td><img src="img/6006.jpg" alt="" width="278" height="185"><span style="display: block; opacity: 0.3; border-top-width: 7px; border-right-width: 7px; border-bottom-width: 7px; border-left-width: 7px; border-top-style: solid; border-right-style: solid; border-bottom-style: solid; border-left-style: solid; border-top-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-right-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-bottom-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); border-left-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); width: 264px; height: 171px; position: absolute; top: 10px; left: 15px; z-index: 3; " class="imgFrame"></span></td>

but when looking at it in design view, the only code I see is <img src="img/6006.jpg" alt="" width="278" height="185">.  The span style coding doesn't appear anywhere.  I thought I'd tracked it down in CSS Styles where all the settings are per the above code, but even though it allows me to change it in this table, it doesn't change any of the actual code when I press apply or ok.  When I view CSS Styles in design view, it doesn't appear full stop.

Still learning with Dreamweaver & I'm at an absolute loss as to how I get rid of this code (as I'm assuming this is the culprit), or, change it so that the white frame disappears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
