1. Re: Photoshop 5 not compatible with Windows 7?
John Joslin Feb 1, 2010 7:12 AM (in response to KateMorgan)I would get Photoshop Elements.
It's cheap and does a lot more than PS 5.

KateMorgan Feb 1, 2010 7:28 AM (in response to John Joslin)Thanks John,
I just assumed elements was too elementary. I'll do that... I don't use this computer for my main work...just for light editing while I am away on trips. Cheers Kate

7. Re: Photoshop 5 not compatible with Windows 7?
gener7 Feb 1, 2010 10:52 AM (in response to KateMorgan)You can also right-click on the installer exe, select Properties from the context menu, then from the Compatibility tab, check the "run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP or an earlier version from the drop-down box. This may work.
It is wiser to get something more up to date, but this should help if you need PS 5 now.

9. Re: Photoshop 5 not compatible with Windows 7?
Bill Hunt Feb 1, 2010 7:14 PM (in response to KateMorgan)If you are not doing work for print, i.e. CMYK, and do not need some of the advanced features of PS, that should work fine for you. Other than the CMYK support, and Layer Masks (might be in PSE 8?), there is not THAT much difference for the average user.
Good luck,
Hunt

Most print shops accept RGB these days, some even prefer it; and of course desktop printers require RGB even if their inks are CMYK!
