I don't think every piece of Flash on the Adobe site is Flex, and there is
still lots of HTML on the site as well.
You are building an application and the basic principles still apply. Less
code runs faster, use modularity to bring in code on demand, throw away
things you don't need. A really small SWF can still run poorly and really
