Flash movie is repeating in safari browser

    FlashTapper Level 1

Have inserted a flash movie into a web page using dreamweaver. Have exported the flash movie out as window mode = transparent.

have made the <param name="wmode" value="transparent" /> tags. Works ok on most browsers except Safari. It seems to repeat the movie vertically (well just a few pixels of it. Is there any way to constrict the Flash object tag so it does not repeat vertically in Safari?

Can you show the embedding code that you use for the swf in the web page?  I am only curious if the code might be repeating the embedding... I have no ability to diagnose it wrt to Safari.

Check your capitalization, I've seen that happen when the caps settings dont match of the mov link and the data

            base and web upload settings..

Although I'm unfamiliar with that code, I have seen similar, and am suspiscious of it.   The lines surrounded by... <!--[if !IE]>--> ... <!--<![endif]--> would have me thinking it is embedding two objects, one within another when the browser is not IE.

If you have the original Flash source file, and a recent version of Flash, you should publish an html output and then copy/paste the embedding code from that file in place of what you show and see if it works better.  Be sure to capture all the embedding related code.

Hey Ned, forgot to mention that was testing on Safari running on a MAC - I just tested the same page on Safari 4 running on a PC and encountered a completely different problem! Safari 4 for PC does not really support Flash transparency that well - well actually it's not all Safari's fault. Apparently the problem is resolved by downloading the latest Flash player plugin (10.0.42.34) .

Apparently the install process for Safari 4 for PC is a bit botchy, here is a link explaining more info (I got it from another Adobe E-seminar attendee today:

                  http://blog.pengoworks.com/index.cfm/2009/6/10/Safari-4-zindex-issue-with-Flash

As for the repeating issue...my colleauge has not been in with the MAC computer this week yet...so I can't do anymore testing until that happens. I did try your solution but as I was running Safari on a PC i got an entirely new problem (but I am pleased to announce that I did not have the tiling/repeating issue!)

                  Stay tuned for more.....
