    Text to Path Help!

    PrncTuesdaysMuse

Ok, so I'm trying to use a text character to create a path and then type along the path.  I do Select/All and Type/Create Outlines but when I attempt to use the text path tool it tells me I cannot select a non-compound, non-marking path.  All I want to do is create text in the shape of a character.  Any suggests?

      Thank you!

I think you have misread that message. It probably looks like this…

This means the path cannot be a mask, and cannot be part of a compound path. Compound Path means two or more paths that combine to form a single shape. The most common use for a compound path is to cut a hole into another path, like the counters in A B D O P and R . That’s probably what’s happening with you. Select the path, then go to Object > Compound Path > Release.

Now you can use the type on a path tool.
