i have a project that i'm editing files from my flip minoHD.
the recommended settings from another forum suggest: XD CAME EX 720p 30p from the default settings.
i've imported .mp4 files which play fine, however, the avi files which were taken by a canon camera do not. when playing these files within premiere or exporting the entire edited clip, these come out as still images or a quick jitter that doesn't play any further.
*these avi files DO play correctly when playing via windows media center.
the only difference i see is that these files are 15fps and the default settings of the project are 29.97fps.
is there anything that needs to be tweaked or adjusted?
Actually, there's another difference: the codec used. Likely the codec
for the AVI files is MJPEG, which will require the installation of a
third-party VFW codec. Check out Morgan Multimedia or MainConcept.
AVI is but a "wrapper," and can contain all sorts of CODEC's, as Jeff mentions. This ARTICLE will give you more background on "wrappers," and give you tips for finding out what is inside. That info will be useful, and someone can then point you in the right direction.
Good luck, and please let us know what you find, when you "peek" inside that AVI "wrapper."
thanks guys. i ran gspot and jeff you're right it's the motion jpeg codec. i'll look into that third party plugin you mentioned
