1. Re: For those of you on Vista...
Captiv8r Feb 5, 2010 2:01 PM (in response to Captiv8r)Hi again all
Answered my own question here.
I located the Captivate_40.dat file on Windows 7 so will have to look on Vista when the power is restored. LOL
In Windows 7 I found it here:
Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Users > (User Name) > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Adobe Captivate

www.cpguru.com Feb 8, 2010 2:42 AM (in response to Captiv8r)Rick - a nifty trick to get to the directory where such files are stored is to use the "Run" command in the Start menu and then type %appdata%
This will open the location where all user specific files are stored for the currently logged in user.

Captiv8r Feb 8, 2010 6:42 AM (in response to www.cpguru.com)Thanks Michael!
I absolutely LOATHE the way the dialog presents the file structure. I suppose I'll have to get used to it. Eventually.
Why software developers feel it's such a wonderful thing to rearrange an interface that was working just fine is beyond me. Similar to Captivate's menu change between 3 and 4. LOL
I can imagine the discussion now. Hmmm, they are finding things far too easily. We must change things to make them stumble and fumble for the next few months. That'll slow them down! Silly efficient users they are.
Cheers... Rick

4. Re: For those of you on Vista...
www.cpguru.com Feb 8, 2010 7:55 AM (in response to Captiv8r)I fully agree. It's confusing to the point where it gets frustrating. First I had XP, then Vista and now Win 7 and they all look different and all store stuff in different places. It wasn't until a friend of mine told me about %appdata% that I actually managed to find what I was looking for in Win 7..
As for programmers.. Well this pretty much cover it ;o)
