    Warning when adding new site

    Level 7
I have a Web site commenced in FP2003 that I imported, using the
FrontPage Migration Kit, into and then completed in DWMX2004. As I
would like to reorder the site with CSS in Windows Explorer I have made
a copy of the site with a different name.

After going to Site | Manage Sites | New and completing the wizard a
      warning appears reading:

The root folder you have chosen is inside the the folder for site `SGC'.
This may cause some operations, such as synchronisation, to work
      incorrectly. Proceed anyway?

SGC is a site in the managed list but it is not highlighted in the
Manage Sites dialogue when selecting New. When I highlight another site
in the list the same warning message appears also referring to the SGC site.

How can I add the this site folder to Manage Sites without the warning
      appearing?

Do you have a site defined with the name SGC?

Is the current site's root folder within the root folder for this other
site? This warning is telling you that it is, and that when you have
'nested' sites like this, synch operations can get out of synch.

Indeed I understand the warning and because I could not understand why
the warning appeared is the reason for asking the question.

The sites, SGC, MCJ(original) and MCJ(css) amongst others are in their
own folders in a folder named Webs.

I have now completed the Site | Manage Sites | New procedure and
MCJ(css) appears in the Assets | Files tree as a Site not nested in SGC.
But I am still puzzled as to the reason for the warning.

My thanks you for your reply.

As I said, the reason for the warning is that DW is finding site "A" within
the root folder for site "B". Can you give me the explicit path to the root
folder for each of these sites?

Paths and actual folder names are:

                1. SGC - F:\webs\sgcdreamweaver (an import from FP2003 and not published)

                2. MCJ - F:\webs\mcjdreamweaver (an import from FP2003 and published to:
                www.mcjtraining.co.uk/)

                3. MCJ CSS - F:\mcjdwcss (A copy of mcjdreamweaver being processed for
conversion to CSS and not published).

SGC was the first import with the FrontPage Migration Kit. I am
wondering if the warning is something to do with that Kit?

I have hundreds of sites all within a root folder and the root folder
is also a site (my localhost phpMyAdmin), so I see this warning
anytime I add a site. It has never caused a problem, though I do never
use sync, checkin/out or design notes.

Are you sure you do not have this site defined with "webs" as the root
                    folder?

                    I doubt it.

                    Try this -

Export the definition for SGC (use the first option when you do so that the
FTP info is exported as well). Then, using Site Manager, REMOVE SGC's site
definition. Now open your other site. Do you STILL get the alert?

(you can always import the SGC definition after you complete this test)
