1. Re: textbox and word list
[Jongware] Feb 8, 2010 12:10 PM (in response to boris_m25)Hi Boris,
There are a few different ways to do something like this. In this case, you can click the red plus at the bottom -- that's called the "Overset Text" indicator, an alert that there is more text than can be shown in the one text frame. If you click it once, the cursor will change to a "loaded" cursor: it will show some tiny preview text. Then you can draw a new frame, or (you already have drawn additional frames) simply click onto the frame it should link to. Repeat until you have linked all the boxes, and if you still see the red plus in the last frame, you will have to add a new page.
To immediately see which box is linked to which other one, there is a "Show Text Threads" item in the View menu; the thick blue lines that connect the boxes shows you the text threads.

[Jongware] Feb 8, 2010 12:37 PM (in response to boris_m25)No need, you're perfectly clear. I'm not a native English speaker myself.
If you used a Paragraph style to format this text, you can enable an automatic page wrap for this line. It's in the Paragraph Style edit dialog, under "Keep Options", and the one you want to change is "Start Paragraph". By default it is set to "Anywhere", simply meaning the next line, but you can change it to "In Next Frame". Every time you press Return, the next text will jump to the next threaded frame.
If you did not use Paragraph Styles, you can still enable this. For a single paragraph, you can call up the Paragraph panel (Window menu > Type & Tables > Paragraph). Then click on the little menu triangle on the top right of that panel; in the drop down menu, select Keep Options.
If you already have imported all text, you can do the same with all text selected.
[Edit] And I just saw your edit. Yes, you can do the same if you replace the hard returns with column breaks, but you have to do that every time you place new text. Setting it in the Paragraph properties makes it work automatically.

P Spier Feb 9, 2010 7:53 AM (in response to boris_m25)I don't know much about Windows 7, but iti seems a little odd that the crash report indicates the OS is version 6. I thought that was Vista.
It won't hurt, and it might help, to replace your preferences: Replace Your Preferences

12. Re: textbox and word list
Dov Isaacs Feb 9, 2010 8:00 AM (in response to P Spier)Ironically, the internal version number for Windows 7 is 6.1, effectively a "minor release" upgrade from 6.0 which is Vista. In fact, in terms of internals, Windows7 really is Vista. The major differences between Vista and Windows 7 are UI, utilities, etc. and not the OS kernel.
The Windows 7 monicker was a marketing name, not an OS version number.

P Spier Feb 9, 2010 8:20 AM (in response to Dov Isaacs)And no doubt there is still a lot of code going back to Windows 3.0...
Thanks, Dov.
So, any ideas on why it's crashing?
