I recently downloaded a file from the web host so that I could adjust the page with some new pictures and when I opened it, it was nothing but chinese characters. I tried to view the code and it froze up the program. I was able to open the file on a PC instead of my MAC in another html program and I cannot see anything that would cause the chinese characters. Any ideas?
Did you "get" the file through the files panel, or did you download it with the browser?
Also, did you try copying the page source into a new html doc and using that to work from?
I downloaded it through the panel. I think I figured it out. Had something to do with the initial
information at the head of the page...
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=macintosh" />
This is the correct stuff, there was something else in place of it, something like loose.dtd not sure if it was intentional or maybe a virus of some sort.
