    Tabbed Panels Problem

    Merle Peek

When I click on Insert Spry Tabbed Panels, Dreamweaver does not add the necessary folder, SpryTabbedPanels.css, to the Files Panel or the CSS Panel. The necessary SpryTabbedPanels.js is also missing. Therefore the tabbed panel that appears in Design View is not a working tabbed panel. One time, and one time only, Dreamweaver did add the necessary .css folder and .js document, and I've since been going back to that page in another document and copying them and pasting them into the new page.

I've been told a number of fixes through the Customer Support Portal, including uninstalling and reinstalling Dreamweaver, but nothing has corrected this problem. I have not tried the other Widgets, but I presume that they will act the same. They will be lacking their necessary .css folder and .js document.

I'm using Dreamweaver CS4 on a Mac running OS 10.6.2

      Any suggestions?

Just a shot in the dark here...

          1) Have you properly set-up a local site folder in DW?

Without this critcal first step, DW can't manage assets for you.

          2) Did you by any chance insert the Spry Panels into an UNSAVED document?

When you add widgets or links to unsaved documents, DW will set paths to files on your local hard drive instead of the site folder.  SaveAs some filename first. Then add stuff.

          Hope this helps.

Thanks Nancy O, for your suggestions.

I first checked the setup of the local site folder, and all was as it should be. The Spry part was pointing to a Spry Assets folder on the website.

I always save a document at the time it is created and frequently thereafter, so there's no way I could've been placing a Spry Tabbed Panel into an un-saved page.

But after having checked the location of the Spry Assets Folder and finding it to be correct and changing nothing, I tried again to insert a Tabbed Panel and this time it worked. I don't think I did anything any differently, but this time it worked. And I tried the other three Spry Widgets on the Insert Menu and they all worked as well.

I've been fussing around with this problem for about two months, but the real test will be tomorrow, when I see if it still works. I thought it was solved once before only to find the next day, everything was back to not working.

            Thanks again,

            Merle
