You can certainly do the edit and Flash Work from PPro.
I figured out how to create a 728 X 90 banner ad frame. But when I place a video clip on the timeline, the clip remains in 16X9 and is placed in the center of the banner.
I want the opposite, I don't want the clip to be "letterboxed". I want the clip to be the full frame of the banner. Just a slice of the center of the clip frame.

you might have "default scale to frame size" ticked in Preferences > General.
I unchecked that box but it didn't seem to make a difference
ah, it doesn't affect things that have been imported and are already ON the timeline.
to fix things that ARE there, open up the Effects Controls pane for the clip, find the MOTION entry and twirl it out, and set the SCALE at 100% (or whatever fits best).
I deleted from the timeline and then added it back but that didn't work.
The effects control > motion did work except that the shot got VERY soft blowing it up that much.
I was hoping to get a native frame of the clip and slice out the banner from it rather than blowing up the frame to fill the banner
sorry, I wasn't very specific was I?
I think you have RE-IMPORT the footage.
though I am surprised that taking your footage to 100% would make it softer.
what are the dimensions of your source footage?? and briefley explain how you've setup your custom frame size (using Desktop Editing Mode??)
Maybe some screenshots might help.
The footage is on an external HD. It's XDCAM EX 720p mpeg4 clips.
Not sure about the 'desktop edit mode'.
ok, so try deleting one clip from the Project Pane and re-importing it.
So what are your project settings? How did you setup your custom frame size?
Shutting down and restarting after deleting the old clip cleared everything and it now works.
