sorry that i cannot understand it completely....
you mean to say changing an item of arraycollection?
If the particular item in the ArrayCollection is a reference to an object, you can use getItemAt to retrieve it and modify it.
If you want to set an item in an already existing ArrayCollection, you can use addItemAt to place it into the ArrayCollection.
Check out the documentation for ArrayCollection at http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/3/langref/mx/collections/ArrayCollection.html. Click "Show Inherited Public Methods" in the Public Methods section to check out the rest of the things you can do with ArrayCollections.
I apologize for not being clear. I do appreciate your help.
I use the getItemAt(i) when looping through the arraycollection.
What I'm struggling with is how to set the new value in the arraycollection after I use getItemAt(i).
I tried using addItemAt but that simply adds a new element to the arraycollection, rather than setting(changing) the value of the result fo getItemAt.

use setItemAt(object, index).
Thank you! I really appreciate your help. itemUpdated and setItemAt both seem to work.
