I am trying to open a PDF in Illustrator (CS3). The box pops up that I don't have HelveticaCondensed, but I have five different versions in Suitcase Fusion.
How can I open this document correctly, as all the type is squashed and over-writing previous characters.
Open a new file and place your .pdf as a link. Then go to Object>Flatten Transparency and check the box to "Convert All Text to Outlines". There will probably be a clipping mask, but you can release it and move things around and resize them as usual.
That seemed to work pretty good. I originally tried opening the document, don't know why PLACING it instead made the difference, but thank you.
Anytime! Seems to have something to do with it being placed as a link as this will not work if you don't link the file first. I'm not a pro though, so I can't tell you exactly why it works!
