    Raster Graphics ...

Read in some article that raster graphics are clunky in nature. They are very heavy files to download from internet.

One book mentions them to get downloaded quickly from internet as their advantage inspite of being clunky.

Why is it so ?  How heavy files are easy to download?

The only difference between raster and vector graphics basically is one is scaleable without distortion and one is not. If one were to be a bigger file size it would be vector simply because of the points stored. You can create a simple single layer graphic, in raster or vector with basically the same kb size. It only changes when an object is scaled or layererd.
