I had similar problems with Windows XP SP3 and Adobe Reader 9.3 and I uninstalled AR 9.3 and went to:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/ and installed Adobe Reader 8.3. No problems after that. However,
ʇɐb ɹəuəllıʍ posted this reply to one of my earlier posts. So, I don't know what to think...
I just discovered that Internet Explorer 8 is not supported by Adobe Reader 9.3 or that they just don't interface properly.
Reader 9.3 works perfectly fine in IE8.
There is no such version, at least not from Adobe. The latest version 8.x is 8.2.1.
Certainly my mistake...If you go to: http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherverions/
and select Windows SP3 the only options are Adobe Reader 9.3 and Adobe reader 8.2
Maybe it could have been noted that it might have been a simple typo....
I have also been having the same problem and as you say have resorted to going back to 8.2 (from 9.3).
However, after some testing I noticed that the problem only happened when Google Toolbar was installed on the machine too... If I uninstalled it (not just disabled it) and tried opening a PDF document within IE it would display fine.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what settings can be set in Google Toolbar to prevent this problem from happening?
