    Cannot select any tool

    Bent Nielsen Community Member

Photoshop CS4 refuses to let me use any tool, wether selected by shortcut or clicking on tool icon.  The selected tool does light up, but is not active and only the hand tool is shown.

Problem seems to happen when quickly moving between tools.

Only solution I have found is to reboot.

Graphics card: NVIDIA GEForce9400M and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.

p.s.. Happy 20th Birthday to you and all of us Photoshop users!

Apart from the hardware aspect (could Your space-bar get stuck occasionally?) as with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.

System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, etc.) should do no damage either.

It's that darn spacebar.  Amazing, how close at hand, the answer sometimes is.  Thanks your reply, you save me many reboots!
