I'm on DW CS4 and I use an intel iMac. I just put a cool new CSS-gradient navigation bar on my site, and I know I need a backup for older browsers that can't display CSS gradients.
And I *thought* that simply putting in solid background colors as a backup within the same CSS strings would work for older browsers. But I get no results on IE 6 - I merely have blank squares for navigation. The text is there thank Heavens, but that's all I get.
Could anyone point me to a tutorial or offer a tip on how to do this? I really appreciate any assistance.
Many Thanks, Frank B.
One trick is to use Conditional Comments for earlier versions of IE. Put comment between the <head> and </head> tags of your HTML documents like this:
<!--[if lt IE 8]>
Put special CSS rules for IE 5, 6 & 7 here
Thanks Nancy!! That's exactly what I was looking for. Much appreciated.
