OpenGL Soft Proof of metallic inks/foils and varnish layers

    Navarro Parker Level 3

Call it Soft Proof on steroids.

I think it would be cool if you could preview metallic inks and foils and varnish layers by simulating lighting on a page via OpenGL. You could give the user the ability to tilt the page in 3D space to see how light reflects of special inks and varnishes.  Heck you could even simulate emboss/debossing effects with OpenGL bump/normal maps.

It would be a great tool to demonstrate to non-creative types (clients) how the added cost would impact the look of a piece. And it would give designers an opportunity to visualize special coatings and inks that can only be viewed after printing.
