1. Re: Blu-ray project errors with "Failed in Open of the VES file"
Kent Purdy Feb 23, 2010 2:31 PM (in response to Philip Colmer)Phillip,
Ive had the same problem several times. The only full proof way Ive found is to start a completly new project. Then no problems. It sounds like from your description that your almost at that point when you start again.Ive tried many ways to determine what causes the glitch but to no avail.(Im retired so Ive wasted many hours on this problem(nothing else to do on these cold days).I will sometime close out the project first and reboot and some times that works, but not usually.Just better to start clean.Encore is a pain with BD but..........
Good Luck

2. Re: Blu-ray project errors with "Failed in Open of the VES file"
Philip Colmer Feb 24, 2010 1:36 AM (in response to Philip Colmer)I have a new workaround which did get me past this particular problem so it will be interesting to know if it helps
anyone else that encounters this error.
I loaded the project as normal, tried to build it as normal and hit the same error - just checking that nothing miraculous had happened overnight.
I then went into the AuthorScriptHDMVSessions folder (which is inside the folder named after the project) and deleted ALL of the files contained in there. I then got Encore to build the project again ... and it worked!
It seems that deleting those files causes Encore to re-import/re-analyse all of the assets and this corrects whatever is causing the problem.
Memo to Adobe: PLEASE improve the error messages in Encore! They stink at the moment - they are almost totally useless in suggesting what the end-user can do to correct the problem.

maniac101maniac Sep 14, 2012 7:57 AM (in response to BrieEatingSurrenderMonkey)I know this is an old thread, but ive just had the same problem and error message with CS5.5. The problem was resolved partly by clearing those files mentioned above, but it was being caused by a second audio channel not being enabled on all timelines in my project. So i had English and German audio in my main timeline but in a second timeline i only had English audio. As soon as i put on a German audio to that timeline and re-built it, all now working. The error messages just dont tell you anything useful still!
thanks

andyowenvideo Mar 13, 2013 10:15 PM (in response to Philip Colmer)This is another answer to an old thread, but I have to say, deleting those files seems to have been the ticket for me as well. Thanks so much for posting your solution back then, it saved me a big headache and a lot of time tonight.

Stan Jones Jul 6, 2014 11:59 AM (in response to kenbennett909)Note that deleting the authorscript files should only apply to older versions of Encore. In CS5, for example, when you'd build a bluray, it would create the authorscript files, and they could cause problems in a future build. In CS6 (?Encore CS5.1), those files are automatically deleted. So if you find an empty or missing folder, you're okay.
