You're applying the Persistent setting from the flyout panel of the Pantone library?
Are you saying that Pantone swatches you've added to the main Swatch panel disappear, or that the Pantone Swatch Library panel doesn't re-open on launch?
If it's the latter, that's exactly what that "persistent" feature is there for. Once in a great while, that fails for me, but 99% of the time, leaving "persistent" checked does the trick. You might try saving a workspace with the panel open and persistent checked.
Yes and still the same issue. I have been using Photoshop and Illustrator
for over 10 years now and CS3 and CS4 are the ones I have noticed with this
swatch palette issue. I have a profile saved correctly as well and it still
resets. Any info on why?
Thanks for the quick response.
Have done that and tried both persistent and workspace. Keeps resetting. It
seems to be the same issue that was happening with a lot of CS3 users,
except this time it resets the Pantone Solid Coated Palette and takes it
back to thumbnail view. Looking for any solutions on this.
I got so sick of CS3 re-setting my swatches to small thumbnail that I finally recorded an action and assigned it to a function key. Now, my standard launch procedure is 1.Click icon. (wait...) 2. Press F1. I s'pse you'd need a separate action for re-setting the Pantone swatch panel, once you get it to show up on a regular basis.
Sometimes when panels disappear, hitting tab (hide/show panels) will bring them back. My toolbar has a nasty habit of just vanishing mid-day, and this usually brings it back.
That's funny it doesn't happen here and don' get this wrong but it seems odd that you have been working with CS 4 all this time and never brought this issue up before.
Of course you could be on windows and it could be a platform specific issue though it seems odd that all this time has passed and it is the first we are hearing about it.
This is what my CS4 looks like after I relaunch AI.
The collection of bugs keeps growing with each version.
It is a shame Adobe does not provide any updates.
Hans he OP ay ether not understand Persistent or there maybe something wrong with the mouse that is preventing Persistent from being selected or some other software conflict that no one is aware of other than Illustrator s it works as expected.
Thanks for the reply and don't take this the wrong way either, but I believe
in exhausting all points of research before posting to the actual
manufacturers forums to search for a possible answer. I know Illustrator and
Photoshop inside and out and have contacted Adobe about this issue since the
release of CS3. They offered no assistance. Seems as though I am not the
only "experienced" user with this same issue. Still in need of any useful
info on how to possibly resolve this. Thank you all for any feedback.
PS Persistent is the first thing I checked when this all started happening,
and it is turned on. The one difference between CS3 and CS4 instead of the
palette just resetting itself it completely vanished and you have to open it
all over again.
I've also been ignoring this problem since CS3 (apathy overrides annoyance, I guess), but found the solution here. It's so obtuse, but it works.
