I understand there are a lot of issues regarding this.
Look up The flash component kit for flex. It wa included in the Flex SDK
Hi JeffryHouser, thanks for your reply.
What I'm looking is just the opposite, I need to use Flex Components inside Flash.
I don't know why it's so difficult to merge them, they are both AS3 after all... and run in the same Flash Player...
I think at least the Flash Team should adapt the Flex components to Flash, because the component's list for Flash is really poor
I need a TreeView with Checkbox nodes
Thanks for the link, but it seems that solution has a problem:
"Apparently Flex creates an invisible layer that covers the whole stage (mx.managers.SystemManager), which catches all events such as mouse clicks that are not caught by any other Flex components."
"The Flex swf does not know or understand that it is loaded by a Flash SWF, because Flash does not have access to the Flex SDK, so it does create the SystemManager, rendering all components in the underlying Flash useless. This SystemManager is not addressable, so there is no way you can disable it or anything."
So if we use a Flex component inside a SWF compiled with Flash our Flash components becomes useless
Flex components are delivered as SWCs just like Flash components, but the
SWC format is incompatible with the Flash IDE.
Also, the default fl.. components in the Flash IDE are incompatible with
You should be able to load a Flex SWF into a Flash SWF as long as you aren't
using fl.. components in the Flash SWF. If the Flex SWF overlays things
in your Flash SWF then it might block interaction, but otherwise it
shouldn't. I don't think the statement you quoted is true for all
But loading a Flex SWF into a Flash SWF isn't going to help you use those
Flex components from your Flash IDE. Try Flash Builder 4 to build out the
Flex portion of your application. I haven't tried it myself, but it I think
it is supposed to have better integration with Flash.
And, is not possible to translate Flex Components to Flash? I mean, both works in the same Flash Player, and are written in the same language, why they are so incompatible?
