Three days so far - no replies - just pushing back to the top to avoid getting lost in the shuffle.
This is not a major issue by any means, but since millions of people use Adobe Reader, I thought I can eventually get at least one person that might have the answer to my question...
I have never seen this effect - all my PDF files show the PDF icon.
But in your case, could it be that the actual files show the content icon, but shortcuts do not?
Thanks for the reply.
I'm afraid that's not the case with me. These are all "content" PDF icons, not shortcuts. Right now, they are all showing the "original" PDF icon. Sometimes, they all show the CONTENT PDF icon, which they should be - other times, a couple show the content icon, a couple show the original. I don't know what controls this. As I see it, all content PDF files should be showing the content icon, but currently, it's not happening. Surely SOMEONE must know the hows and whys of this issue???
But I do at least appreciate the try.
OK...still nothing on what I thought would be a very simple answer....
Can someone tell me if anyone from Adobe support ever checks these forums out - or if they are "users only"?
What about other resources for Adobe Reader support, since Adobe keeps redirecting all Reader support right here (wonderful!!) ?
This is a peer-to-peer forum, Adobe staff do not usually patrol this forum.
One other possibility is that these PDF documents may have been created to show a contents icon, but I'm not sure of that. Perhaps you can ask in the Acrobat forum if anyone knows?
I guess I will try at the ACROBAT section - thanks for the suggestion!
Well, well, well...
Sometimes persistent searching pays. I found the answer - and of course, it's an ADOBE issue with PCs running 64-bit. Thankfully, someone had the decency to create a fix for this, and now I have my PDF icons the way I want them.
For anyone else that understands what I was trying to describe and has the same issue, get your fix for this here:
