Yes, that is still the best workflow.
There are compromise solutions, but converting is the simplest -- and the one most likely to net good, predictable results.
- DV-AVI is the best format for standard definition footage.
- You should still convert your .MOV files to DV-AVI
- G-Spot remains an effective utility to check what your footage is. Note that all AVI's are NOT the same as DV-AVI. GSpot can check this for you.
