It can be done in many ways. It your SWF file is in a web server, you must send this text to a Web Application (ASP, JSP, PHP, etc) so this application can programmatically create the text file.
If you are working for a CD-ROM you can include your SWF and wrap it using software like Zinc. Or you can contruct your own window application. Then send the data to this host application so that it can write the file down.
As you can see. Flash cannot do this by itself. It always depend on a host application.
Ahha, So Flash cannot create the file itself but I can write an ASP page to create the actual file that works for me I have more experience with ASP than actionscripting.
So I guess my question is what is the best way to have flash get the raw data to my ASP page?
use the loadvars class.
So I should be able to do it something like this?
var test_results = new loadVars();
test_results.object = object_txt;
test_results.coordinate_x = xpos_txt;
test_results.coordinate_y = ypos_txt;
test_results.appear_time = appear_txt;
test_results.react_time = reaction_txt;
makes a bit more sense now this external data stuff is mucho usefull and I need to reallt start doing more of my projects this way, more control , easier editing, and lighter swf files.
ah forgot the quotes - alot of my duh, this doesn't work, ends up being something just like that.
