I am not sure how much the updates for PSE and PrE might differ, or how many here, in the PrE forum have updated their copy of PSE 8, but you might get better help in the Photoshop Elements forum
The patch is installed by the Media Updater -- to start that, go to the Help menu and select Check for Updates.
Midway through installing the updates, the updater will ask you to close your programs, if any are open. Then you can click Resume and it will finish installing.
You will not see version 8.01 listed as the version number, for some reason. But you should see much improved performance.
If the updater finds no updates when you run it again, the updates were installed.
BTW, I'm not aware of any updates for Photoshop Elements.
I did that and it says no updates availble, yet my version numbe says 8.0. It did not complete the first time and I think it thinks it has.
Just need to reaply the patch again...
It sounds to me as though it has installed, Rachel.
It says 8.0 in the system info and the file dates are September 09.
should it not say, 8.01??
Rachel, the update was installed.
If you'd like to ensure this, go to C:\PROGRAM FILES\ADOBE\PREMIERE ELEMENTS 8.0 and look at your file details.
If these files (among others) are shown to be updated on 2/28/2010, your update was succesfully applied: Display.dll, DisplayDrivers.dll, HandlerEffectsControls.dll, HandlerMovieTheme.dll.
In the unlikely event that they are not, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the program. (Don't worry. None of your work in progress will be removed.)
One should also be able to look at Help>About and see the exact version number. Does this not display correctly with the 8.0.1 update?
Thank you very much, you are right, the file date match yours.
Adobe should make the effort to change the program verion system info to match but they did not.
also the splash screen needs changing as well.
So you think they should release a patch for the patch, Rachel?
