FMS 3.5.0 stops streaming live pre-recorded streams unexpectedly

when broadcasting pre-recorded streams on a live application
FMS always stops streaming at a certain time...

It can be after 10 seconds, it can be after 2 hours, or it can

be after any other time, the frame just freezes on the client

and the buffer drops to 0.

any attempt to diconnect / reconnect does not resume the streaming,

althought the FMS console registers the connected client, no

streaming is ensuing.

One of the common events we get on the client in such instances

when the streaming stops results in get "NetStream.Play.InsufficientBW".

So we've tried to implement the workaround that was dicussed on the thread:

apparently it seemed to help in perhaps prolonging the time until

the freeze happens (extending it a bit) -

yet the problem still persists...

our FMS 3.5.0 is installed on a centOS 5 machine, as a virtual machine
VM version: 7
Memory 2048 mb

this is a serious show stoppper and we have to solve the

issue or move to another product other then FMS....

This does sound serious. Can you upgrade to fms 3.5.3 first, as we've fixed several related issues with deadlocks and stream stalls. It may instantly cure your problem.

hi Again,

well, we've upgrade to 3.5.3 r824 on our virtual machine
and the problem still persists... (image freeze after a few minutes)

Yet I need to mention that our production system (using real hardware)
running FMS v3.5.2 r654 has no stalls or freezes, and braodcast can go on for days
uninterrupted.

since our testing system is running Virtual, i'd appreciate if you have any ideas
to solvethis inconvenience...

Hmm, well FMS has some troubles with living for the long haul on virtual machine environments and it usually comes back to how those VMs present their network. When the VM does bridged network for instance it's sharing time with the proper OS to get connection traffic for its applications. The unfortunate nature of that was that when we tested the performance for network sharing from an FMS out of a VM was so bad that it couldnt' be supported as a good configuration. Consequently we recommend to most deployments of 'don't do that'.

If it has to get solves and has to be a virtual machine, then I'd recommend playing with the various network modes to see if you can find one that's going to play happier with the server's 24/7 networking needs. It seems like the VM/FMS combo is the problem then that's where I'd be looking.
