    Help! Template Update Stripped Out Title Tag

    caferacer

      This has me stumped. I can see the <title> in the property inspector, and in code view, but in design view it shows as Untitled Document.

      <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
      <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/800pxContent.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
      <head>
      <title>Untitled Document</title>
      <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
      <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
      <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->
      <link href="../css/2col-800px.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
      <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" href="http://siebenthalercreative.com/blog/?feed=rss2" title="RSS" />
      <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="head" --><title>POP Powersports Advertising - Pushing The Right Buttons</title>
      <style type="text/css">

      Somehow I've picked up an additional <title> tag. If I look at page source I can see both <title> tags in the head; if I examine w/firebug, I only see the <Untitled Document> tag.

      I can type in a title but when I navigate away from the field it reverts to <Untitled Document>.

      thanks

          It seems your <title>POP Powersports Advertising - Pushing The Right Buttons</title> got moved out of the correct editable region.

          It should be between these tags"

          <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
          <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->

          So it should look like this:

          <!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->

          <title>POP Powersports Advertising - Pushing The Right Buttons</title>
          <!-- InstanceEndEditable -->

          Then it will become be recognized by the template as the actual title.

          Let me know if that helped.

            Correct. I'd checked the FAQ section for editable regions first, but missed the insertion point. Moved the tag in my template and after updating all the titles were restored. Decided to leave question up - maybe I should delete? Regardless, thanks for the quick and definitive response.
