Memory profilling is definetely in our product backlog and we have plans to fix it after completing some critical features.
In the meantime, the problem that you are facing seems to be severe and we would like to address it.Can you help us by providing some details in helping us to fix this issue.
- Are you using the desktop version or the browser version of the app and if browser version, then which browser?
- Can you recall some specific steps you took before this problem occured.

Sengstack Mar 2, 2010 10:20 PM (in response to Priyank - AdobeStory Team)Hi,
-- I'm using the desktop version.
-- I start Story, it automatically logs me in, then I open the Task
Manager and note that the Mem Usage climbs constantly. Right now...I
just opened Story and the Mem Usage jumped in increments of about 4MB
per second up to 64MB or so. Then the rate of increase slowed down such
that it's now climbing about 100KB per second. As I'm writing
this...it's up to 81MB.
-- I've run this on two machines and had the same results.
#1: Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate -- Intel quad core (I forget the
speed) -- 8 GB RAM
#2: Windows XP Home -- Intel Pentium 4 3GHz with hyper-threading
enabled -- 2GB RAM

3. Re: Memory leak bug
Priyank - AdobeStory Team Mar 2, 2010 11:08 PM (in response to Sengstack)Hi Jeff,
It is expected for Memory usage to increase after login as some modules are getting loaded.
But it should not reach the level at which the system hangs.
Can you please tell us the memory usage of story at the time when the system hangs?
The sytem specification that you have provided is of a very high end system and it is quite unusual for it to hang.
Thanks,
Adobe Story Team

4. Re: Memory leak bug
Sengstack Mar 3, 2010 12:31 AM (in response to Priyank - AdobeStory Team)Hi,
I am not working with that high-end system now (it is in an office I
visit about once a month) so I am not able to do further testing on that
platform. When that system started slowing way down, I didn't check the
Mem Usage. I did check that later, but I never let Story stay open for
too long because I didn't want to have the system freeze like that
again. As I mentioned, there is a rapid increase in memory usage for the
first 15 seconds or so, then it slows down to a steady climb. That can
go on for a long time.
One other thing I just noticed: I just started Story again to respond to
this email and it opened with a Mem Usage of 113MB. It is as if Story
had been operating in the background after I closed it. I notice that
when I close it, Story does disappear from the Task Manager. When I
re-start it, the Mem Usage climbs proportionately to the time that
passed since I closed it (it's now 140MB).
I minimized Story and the Mem Usage drops to 13MB or so...but climbs
rapidly and within a few seconds jumps to 85MB or so. I open it back in
full screen and the Mem Usage does not climb appreciably.
As a basis of comparison, I opened MS Word 2003 and its Mem Usage is
23MB (as opposed to Story's 140MB and growing Mem Usage).

5. Re: Memory leak bug
SG in AZ Apr 29, 2010 2:01 PM (in response to Priyank - AdobeStory Team)I'm running Windows Vista 64, Adobe Story in desktop version, full screen. I have 4GB RAM on a high end system. I was checking on an odd bug where the program was coming out of full-screen on a CTRL-S save (doesn't do it on a menu save) and noticed the "memory leak" thread. I'm now up to 189,900k+ after about 10 minutes of running nad of all my processes it is the only one that keeps running upward. What other information could I provide that might help with this issue?
Steve
PS Directly after posting this message, I returned to Task Manager and saw that the number had changed again - it first was at 184,000+ and climbing, then when I refreshed I went back in and it was at 179,000 and climbing. Very odd.
