    Linux vs. Windows platform?

    bamaurer Level 1

I just had a quick very silly question I am sure. I am finishing up my first site in Dreamweaver... I am used to Flash. Anyway, I need to know what type of platform to use... as my hosting service has requested this information.

I am not sure about which to go for: windows or linux, any suggestions?

For a static website, it doesn't make any difference whether you use Windows or Linux. If you plan to use ASP.NET at any time in the future, choose Windows. Otherwise choose Linux. Linux hosting plans tend to support PHP (although that's often also available on Windows, too). However, if you plan to use PHP, Linux is preferable, because a small number of features are not supported on Windows.
