Can CSS rollover stay in 'over' position to reflect page being visited?

Hi, I'm on CS4. This is probably a 'No' answer but it doesn't hurt to ask: I know that in Javascript, you can make a rollover stay in the swap-position to reflect the link being used or the page you're currently visiting.

Is anything like this possible in CSS rollovers, using only CSS code and no javascript?

I did Google quite a bit on this and found nothing close to an answer or a discussion even remotely related to this topic.

      Many Thanks for any insights,
