I am getting a complex now and feel sure this has happened before. Is there not anyone out there that can work with me on this. I have Elements 8 and a new Dell Intel core i7 computer with a 1G Radeon video card. Do I need to reload the program? Absolutely nothing happens when I click windows>effects or transitions music or anything else. Please help and many thanks...CalGal
This is aimed at Premiere Pro, but may help

I have spent 6 hours reading stuff. If Elements is this hard to install and use, perhaps it isn't as good as I thought. I couldn't use it on my old computer so took that opportunity and ordered a new computer. And I still can't use this program? What a dissapointment.
I am not certain where you are in the process. First, it sounded like you had installed the program, but that part of the GUI (Graphical User Interface) was black, and that you had both the Timeline and the Sceneline showing, which is not possible, unless something is horribly wrong.
Now, it seems as though you have not been able to install the program. Which is correct?
Going back to the first situation - the black area and both the Timeline and the Sceneline showing, can you do a screen-cap and post it here? It could be a bad installation, or maybe a video driver issue.
For potential troubleshooting, I would make sure that you have the very latest video driver installed. Was it a Radeon? If so, go to the ATI Web site, and get the very latest driver for your card.
Good luck, and let us know exactly what is happening.
If this IS an installation issue, then go over this CHECKLIST, and make sure that you are following the steps. This is for most Adobe programs, but are concerns with installations of most.
