    Template issue (concerning CSS not being properly represented)

    Virtual Scott

      I'm working on re-creating my site using a page template or two for the obvious navigation menu update reasons. The problem -  I can't get the child page to show background images, formatting, etc, even though it IS linking to an external style sheet page. This is just utterly baffling to me. I created a template from a page, and every child page from that template previews fine but no formatting or background images show up even though they are linked to the main.css file which is my main CSS file.

      So here is my main site: http://www.scottmosher.com/profile.html

      Here is the page I used as my template: http://www.scottmosher.com/default.html

      Here is the template page itself: http://www.scottmosher.com/Templates/template.dwt

      or, if you can't access the /Templates/ folder: http://www.scottmosher.com/template.dwt

      Here is the child page from the template: http://www.scottmosher.com/test.html

      I sure hope this is something obvious I'm just missing because I just can't figure out why the template page itself (the parent) looks and functions correctly, but the child page created FROM IT (via the new -> page from template) has the proper page content with the exception of everything in the main.css file.

      Any help would be greatly appreciated.

          The page you say is made from the template the background image is linking to a location on your hard drive (see below)

          http://www.scottmosher.com/test.html

          body {
               background-color: #000;
               background-image: url(file:///The Mothership/Users/scottmosher/Desktop/Scotts Work/Web Sites/scottmosher.com/images/background2.gif);
               background-repeat: repeat-x;
          }

          I'd open your .dwt template file and put the link right. If you have made the child page correctly,
          File>New>Page from Template>choose the template which should be in your site folder, the page will update.

            Hi. I do see that problem but there is something strange going on. I'm using the

            http://www.scottmosher.com/default.html

            page as the file I created the template from. That file has the correct information in the code. The template page:

            http://www.scottmosher.com/Templates/template.dwt

            also has the correct code in it (although what is up with the "../images/" prefix? The ".."?)

            Then the child page I literally create FROM the template page:

            http://www.scottmosher.com/test.html

            wrong. SO again, what is going wrong here? The code in the child page is wrong as you pointed out below. The code in the template is correct. So I can't correct it if it's already correct. This is driving me nuts...

            Any other ideas? Thanks.
