What happens if you set Share up to burn to a folder on your hard drive rather than directly to a disc?
The same thing Steve. It appears to be an encoding issue.
FYI - I just discovered that the teacher workstation (which is working) does NOT have ffdshow installed. All other computers in this lab do. Again, same hardware. I uninstalled ffdshow from a student machine and rebooted, but the problem persists. Not sure if ffdshow is the root cause of the problem or not.
Are all instances of PrE being run from an Administrator account? Adobe programs really, really want to do it that way. Often, if a user is not set up as Administrator, issues will ensue. Also, is PrE installed on C:\, this can be another tripping point. The exact Path is not important, but the drive is. I have all of my Adobe programs installed on C:\Adobe\[Program Name], rather than the more traditional and default, C:\Program Files\Adobe\[Program Name].
The program was installed in default locations and students (in this case) are local admins on said machines.
Update - oK, I figured this one out. To save some other poor soul from the aggrivation I'm posting my fix.
I removed network connectivity from the PC (no internet) and launched PrE and ran the same project. This time, after hitting the run button to burn the project to DVD, I received a pop-up indicating that an MPG-2 encoder (cant remember the exact name) needed registered to work properly. The dialog box offered a weblink and serial key to input into the site. I then re-connected to the internet, opened the site in the dialog window and pasted the license/serial key information. A second later I received notification the registration was successful. To make sure the issue wasnt profile specific, I logged in as another user and the fix worked for that individual too.
I have no idea why I didnt get the message about the encoder needing registered with internet - leads me to believe the breakdown occured on Adobe's site?
Oh well, thank goodness it's resolved. I probably have 5 solid hours working through this. Ugh.
Thank you for sharing. My first guess would be that a security setting got in PrE's way, as this activity normally happens almost instantly, and except for the little dialog screen, is usually almost transparent.
Still, that things are now working fine it all that is important, and that you have furnished your method for getting it all going.
Greatly appreciated, and good luck,
