I wached the presentation of Matthew Kaufman from MAX09 about P2P on the Flash Platform with RTMFP. My use case is a meeting application, that may have up to 10 streams with about 20 members. In the presentation it is always talked about 1 stream that is beeing published and therefore multicasting is used (multicast for small # of senders at high datarates, posting is for large # of senders at low data rates).
Now having several webcam streams I guess this scenario will not fit into P2P anymore because it is a large # of senders at high datarates? Is this a scenario where you still have to switch to a centralized environment with a star structure/content delivery network?
Thanks in advance for your help!
there's nothing stopping you from having 10 multicast streams simultaneously in a group, other than bandwidth and processing power on the clients to decode and display 10 simultaneous streams.
