    Div ID

    Stevan
      I use Dreamweaver 6

I can not find the button or link to insert a DIV ID TAG or is it a manually added item

If you are using DMX6.0, please update to DMX6.1 at your earliest
opportunity - use the updater at the Adobe site.

Right click on the <div> tag on the QuickTag selector bar, select Set ID,
and select the desired ID from the list.

Set ID from the tag-chooser only works with pre-defined id's in stylesheets
              (e.g. #theID {/*styles*/}),
Dreamweaver MX has no inspector for plain DIV tags, but you can create a
layer which is an absolutely positioned div(Insert > Layer), use the layer
inspector to set the ID, then remove it's style attribute, removing the
style attribute will disable the layer inspector, to keep the layer
inspector functioning with relatively positioned divs use the following
              code:
              <div id="myID" style="position:relative;"></div>

Just FYI, "ID" isn't a tag, but an attribute of a tag.

Good - did it take when you installed it? To see, go to the DW executable
file, right click, choose PROPERTIES | Version, and tell me what version
                  number you see there, please.

It seems like sometimes people that post here think that everyone is a Prof designer and that is not really true. For me I only do my own two sites and there where designed in dreamweaver so i use that but never used a lot of the items that are available. SO when I run into something like above and the person who made the images for me said to
Wrap <div id="newletter"> and </div> around it. I did a search for that div id and nothing came up so you post and sometimes like you say people sometimes get upset .

But I just move on and someone always answers the question
