    help w/ actionscript

      hello all, to begin let me apologize, i am still a beginner at flash cs3 and actionscript is giving me some trouble. right now i am trying to make a dropdown mouseover menu that just has 1 button within that has a dot beside the text that glows when you rollover it. right now i have 2 files open 1 w/ just the glowing piece and the other w/ the menu (w/ text) and the glowing piece next to the text. for some reason the glowing dot works alone but when put in the navBar movie clip (my dropdown menu) i get the error message of it being an unidentified property in every piece of code that i wrote for it. here is my current code.

      import flash.events.IEventDispatcher;
      import flash.display.MovieClip;
      //stop animated navBar from playing
      navBar.stop();

      //call up navBar symbol and apply mouse event
      navBar.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,startClip);
      navBar.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT,reset);

      //define function
      function startClip(e:MouseEvent):void {
      navBar.play();
      }

      function reset(e:MouseEvent):void {
      navBar.gotoAndStop(1);
      }

      import flash.events.IEventDispatcher;
      import flash.display.MovieClip;
      //stop animated aboutButton from playing
      aboutButton.stop();

      //call up aboutButton symbol and apply mouse event
      aboutButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER,startClip1);
      aboutButton.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OUT,reset1);

      //define function
      function startClip1(e:MouseEvent):void {
      aboutButton.play();
      }

      function reset1(e:MouseEvent):void {
      aboutButton.gotoAndStop(1);
      }

      might the problem be that you cant put a movie clip into another movie clip on specific frames? i have all the instance names matching w/ the symbols. so i am at a wall. thx for your time.
