    Changing to a different Template

    jgardner920
My site has many different sections that are each setup to use their own template. Instead, I would now like them all to use the same main template. I am using Dreamweaver MX. Is there a way to specify that every page that had been using template x.dwt should now use template y.dwt? Will I need to update each page individually by detaching from one template and attaching to another? Currently, I have copied my main template over each of the different existing templates so that I have multiple copies with different names. This works, but is cumbersome. Thank you so much!

Do all of the templates have the same editable regions, and are the named
          the same?

If so, just close all files (after making a backup of the site!), and
systematically do a find and replace for each old template name to replace
it with the new template name. The template name appears once on each child
page in a comment in the head of the page. By replacing it, you will force
DW to use the new named template. Then open one of the child pages, and use
MODIFY | Templates > Update all pages....

I just tested this on one small section and it worked brilliantly. I will now proceed with the rest of the site. Thank you, ACE!
