I am enabling some enterprise functions to run within Yahoo widgets. The enterprise application is written with Flex, and the widget is a subset of the Flex application within the widget.
My problem is that the CPU usage for the widget rides between 20% and 35% when the application is doing nothing. Open up another widget and the pair use double the CPU. The Yahoo community is aware of this and consider it normal for Flash content.
My guess is that the widget is being initiated thinking that it is playing a movie instead of a Flex application and there is some "play" behavior I need to turn off. I am hoping that my application has access to the Flash API from within Flex and I can reset the flash player to a "Flex mode" instead of a "Flash mode".
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Not meaning to bump my own... would I have a better shot at an answer from a Flash forum? I know the Flash player can run flex without straining the CPU. It would seem logical that the player is in a "mode" I need to get it out of.
