Deleting the entire file (off the harddrive) of a Bad Take?

    Ned43 Community Member

What is the quickest way to delete a bad take from my drive and put it into the recycle bin?

I have no problem with direct-to-file recording, however, is there a way that I can delete a file within Audition, and have it deleted from the "_recorded" folder as well?

I mean if I record a take that I KNOW for sure I do not want, what is the quickest way to delete it from the "_recorded" folder using AUDITION, WITHOUT HAVING TO GO INTO THE "_RECORDED" folder via explorer?

I can't use mediasweeper (which is a great idea btw) for some projects because I have files in the recorded folder which are not being used in the multitrack session, but that I still want to save.

      thanks

i guess the easiest/quickest way is to delete it from your session and edit view then go to "import file" or "save as" then you can find the folder and delete the file you just deleted from MT and Edit view, Audition won't let you delete if it's still using it.

But there should be an option to delete the file directly with two clicks and a command prompt of some sort.

actually no for optimal space saving you should go into the folder with your recorded waves from that session via explorer (just make sure it's the folder from the session you're currently working on, not a backup or different version of that session) and delete the files from there because then you can also delete the "pk" files, where as going into your recorded folder thru Audition via "save as" doesn't give you the option to delete the pk files of the assoicated .wav because they're not visible.
