    What's New in Audition 3.0?

    Ned43 Community Member
Don't have time now to get into how they help, but I would just like to say that there is MUCH improvment in Audition 3.0...I'd like to say this because I've heard lots of grumbling on other forums about 3.0 not being an upgrade at all over the previous versions 1.5 or 2.0, this is completely false, for me in particular the improvement in MT View (editing: collectively trimming, duplicate entire track and fading improvements) are indispensable.

and most people don't even mention any improvement aside from spectral view (which is pretty big in itself, isn't it?) spot healing etc...which I haven't even used yet.

I just want to say, they definetly made some good improvements, while they may not be overwhelming to some they are entirely useful in my situation and I think for most people they would come to see they are definite improvements if they used it long enough.

So...cutting and pasting the "What's New?" section of the Adobe Audition web site about a release that come out more than two years ago is supposed to be a helpful post because?

          Answers on a postcard please.

ah guh suk yuh dutty sket mudda bumbohole battybway!

It's a very helpful post because there is people who come to this forum when trying to decide to what recording software too purchase, and there's also people all over the internet who say that Audition is not better then Pro-Tools and more amateurish when in many regards it is more professional and has a better interface and GUI, especially if you're not doing too many tracks (less then 16 or perhaps more on a high end system). It's multi-track is easy and stays out of your way, has great automation, and some updated editing capabilities and has an excellent mbc that pro-tools does not have (maybe not excellent but very good)..and I believe pro-tools is a cpu hog doing certain things just like Audition is.

So people come to this site and I'm going to tell them the truth that it has been added to nicely since Adobe bought it and hopefully if people buy it will have another update to make the multi-track even better.  It has a few bugs and downsides but so does pro-tools, I think the upsides are greater then pro-tools.

The only downsides are the midi is a bit lacking compared to other programs which have been in the midi-game longer, and that it does use alot of cpu for certain efx, and the multi-track is better in some ways but not as advanced in others in terms of sequencing and arranging, it could improve in that area, loops and stretching loops to match each other then being able to record how you bring the loops in and out in a sequence like ableton but in it's own way then it would rule the world forever.

if you look around people who know and love Adobe Audition 3.0 are enjoying the updates for different reasons, some love the spectral editing, some appreciate the multitrack updates etc..

It has a VERY underrated GUI as well, fully customizable and very intuitive once you climb uphill for a bit, you gotta dive in and mess with things while reading the manual and set your shortcut keys how you want them, then it becomes a truly beautiful interface and IMO THE BEST AROUND except some have better features for loops and midi, everything else goes to Audition, recording, mixing, editing, laying vocals etc..

You can work with loops in Audition 3.0 for sure though, in fact it's amazingly flexible when dragging cropped clips around, I don't even know if Acid is better for loops aside from being able to transpose automatically.

                Yes, I agree, it's a big upgrade from both 1.5 and 2.0.

In my opinion one of the best programs (if not the best) out there for all in one recording and mastering of audio (especially with a couple good VST's to supplement the already decent efx in Audition), that is if your midi-usage is minimal, if you're a midi-freak probably stay away for now, but it's too bad for you you're missing out..

The customization of the GUI is unparelled, shortcuts make it easy to work with with less use of the mouse.

It's a hidden gem, in my opinion it gets a bad rap because idiots at radio stations use it for audio editing, people start to think it's just a vocal sound editor for radio stations and not for music, or that it's just a sound editor, while it's Multi-track is ahead of most in terms of GUI flexibility and intuitiveness and efficiency, if behind a bit in some areas like midi-functionality, their time grid and working with loops more easily (although it's quite possible if you learn the program in and out to work with loops fairly easily)...if this program keeps getting better I think it will make it's mark sooner or later, and it will be a competitor to pro-tools...I can't believe their GUI up until the latest release, like staring at a lightbulb, can't believe people actually used pro-tools up until the latest release and even now it doesn't sound as good as Audition unless you're on HD and Audition is just more intuitive and gets out of your way more then protools...there's obviously still some things that need to be improved in Audition for it to get to that point though.
