Guy, that font of yours is enormous! -- About twice the size of mine.
What system are you on? A 120 dpi screen, and Internet Explorer set to Huge fonts?
Let me make sure that we all understand the question:
The forums are very limited in how they can be configured. Most of it is set by a template (which I think is) provided by Jive.
First of all, the view of the forums can be improved by some scripts created by some users (primarily "heavyboots").
Here's a screenshot of the default with medium sized fonts:
With the "Full browser width" Stylish script in Firefox (http://userstyles.org/styles/16217) it looks like this:
There's nothing I can do with the tremendous amount of space wasted on the top. The only areas I'm talking about are the ones highlighted below:
The announcement can only appear on top, and the stickies only take up the space of 2-3 discussions in the list. So far, the responses I got were overwhelmingly positive (60% were happy with the way it is now, 20% want the stickies on the side, and 20% are indifferent.)
As I pointed out in another thread, the Discussions page does not show the stickies, so you can use that view if you feel the stickies takes up too much space.
Thanks to everyone who participated,

Congratulations on the search scripting forums widget, that's great
Keep it up Harbs
If you look at the Overview page. You will now see an additional search field which unlike the one at the top of the page, will search the scripting forum only:
The hope is that it will help people find answers easier...
Thanks to Steven for the help in creating the widget!
Wicked! The InDesign Scripting Forum rules, or at least it does among the other Adobe forums ...
Its a shame it took this long, its really a piece of cake. Let all the other fancy forums wait in line
