    Director

Is Director Dead? I know, Director MX2004 is still out there, but no new ones. will any Director stuff be intergrated into Flash 9? Right now, it seems that it's almost a "zombie" application, in other words, it's still moving but a dead product. It's kind of depressing.
I'll say this though, it's still quite usefull, even if no new ones come out.

          Stodgers,

Many of the participants in this forum are strong and enthusiastic Director
supports and sigh when we see one of these 'Is Director Dead' questions. I wonder
if the question is just trying to complain about the lack of information coming
from Macromedia / Adobe about Director or if there is a sincere query behind it.

If you really want to know the answer, finding it is not too hard if you look.
First, search this question on the forums.

I'd say frustration. "A sincere query behind it"?? Of course. Why wouldn't there be? With all due respect, you could have left that part out.

Director is not dead, just the demand for it. Due to Flash hype, it gets
              overlooked.

              :(

That was my frustration at seeing that question. Often people write it without
really wanting to know the answer as it's just to make a statement. Search through
the forums and you'll see it appear over and over, as I mentioned in my last
message. My comment about the sincerity of the question was in general to all that
write it, not specifically to yours. Maybe in your case, you really want to know
information about plans for Director's future but this definitely is not the case
with everyone. The 'Director is Dead' statement is a negative question. I'd feel
more OK see with the question phrased a bit more positively:)

Keep an eye on Adobe's site - they're due to post an announcement
(roadmap, time frame, ...) shortly that will hopefully allay these threads

Hi! I'm a Director Teacher at a Graphic Design institute, and i have to constantly tell my "Flash-fans-students" that Director is not dying and why Director is great at some stuff Flash is not, and that the key is to use both of them in combination. But every time i told them that, a part of me was really praying for what i was telling them be true. Thank you very much for giving us those great news :) I'll be waiting anxiously for Director 2007 :D
