I have several divisions on a page, one is called accessoriesContent. I've tried to go the CSS STYLES window and make a new style with the name of the tag. I don't understand which selector type I need, I've tried ID with the name of the id #accessoriesContent but it doesn't show up in the rules list. How do I use these styles. The text in that division is compressed and the lines are on top of other lines. What kind of style do I need. I have a header division, a left division and a right division which is my div = "accessoriesContent" and then a footer. I need help understanding how to format each?
It would be best if you post a URL to your page so we can see what you mean by "compressed." Short of that we would need to see your HTML and CSS code. But a URL is preferred.

IDs can only be used once on a page vs a class which can be used multiple times on a page. That is why it doesn't show up where you might think it will be shown. In the Properties Panel under HTML that is where you will find the ability to define an element with an ID, the classes are under the CSS portion of that panel with the other styling functions.
Personally I would recommend giving this tutorial a read over: http://www.w3schools.com/css/
