I presume that you are talking about Ozone, and that's not supposedly good for money, it's excellent - with one exception; the reverb. That's pretty poor, but for everything else in your list, it's more than adequate for mastering, as a lot of chart releases prove...
What you perceive about the effects of Ozone (which is a mastering tool, rather than an effect) rather depends on how accurate your monitors are, and to a large degree your listening environment. What are you monitoring on?

Mark Branch Mar 20, 2010 11:24 AM (in response to SteveG(AudioMasters))yamaha hs and mackie hr series, decent but not superb monitors, but I tend to think the high end monitors are overrated and some are so good then hide your mixing mistakes, some genelecs I've tried at studios sound really good but I had trouble mixing on them I believe if you have monitors that you learn and know well that is what is important. Yes ozone is what I was referring too and while good, for my purposes I was just looking for something a little different and a good reverb is one of the main things I need although maybe I shouldn't be looking at software in that case, nice to do evertying itb though.

SteveG(AudioMasters) Mar 20, 2010 12:02 PM (in response to Mark Branch)If you want really good reverbs, then probably what you need is something like this package.

Bob Howes Mar 20, 2010 9:02 PM (in response to Mark Branch)...or, if you want something at the other end of the price spectrum (i.e. free) quite a few Audition users--including me--find GLACEVERB
a useful package as an adjunct to the built in effects.
As for other things, frankly my policy is to use the Audition built-ins until I hit something I can't do (or can't do well enough) without going to a third party plugin. To date I've only found the need for a few other bits and pieces an those were mainly for very specific projects.

SteveG(AudioMasters) Mar 23, 2010 6:19 AM (in response to SteveG(AudioMasters))Okay, an interesting one. I was reading the current SOS last night, and it has a review of the Liquidsonics Reverberate. On the face of it, this looks like remarkable value for not very much money. I'm almost tempted to try it myself...
